Lee Young Ji expressed her agitation after losing the blue verified checkmark on Twitter.
On June 5, Lee Young Ji wrote on Twitter, "Even if (my account) looks like an impersonator account that has a blue checkmark, it's still an official account, so they can't just take away the blue checkmark. Or they shouldn't have given me the blue checkmark to begin with. How can they give it to me and then take it away?" She added, "Or they should give at least that 'are you a bot' test and make me find the traffic lights. If I get it wrong, then they should have taken it away."
The 'Blue Checkmark' was previously used on Twitter to mark the official accounts of public figures and celebrities.
However, after Elon Musk purchased Twitter, the system changed, and the blue checkmark became available to users under a paid Twitter subscription.
Due to this change, even BTS's official account briefly lost the blue checkmark.
Not only Twitter, but Facebook and Instagram also adopted this system and are providing blue checkmarks to anyone who is using the paid subscription features.
In response, Lee Young Ji's fans tweeted and messaged the rapper explaining, "Unnie, you now have to pay for that tag," "What kind of impersonation account has over 800K followers lol," and "There's a lot of people who don't know about this actually."
Soon after, Lee Young Ji notified fans she had paid for the subscription but expressed her dissatisfaction as she had to confirm her identification a second time to get the blue tag again.
yeah, the blue tag has lost its meaning with the subscription. Anyone can start an account with a blue check as long they paid for it.
