aespa's Karina has issued an apology via Bubble for recommending a controversial Japanese anime series to her fans.
Previously, the female idol received backlash after recommending the popular anime series 'My Hero Academia', which is known to be highly controversial in both Korea and China for its reference to human experimentation during World War II. The anime is not only banned in China, but is also frowned upon by Koreans.
As a result, Karina wrote on June 27:
Many netizens welcomed Karina's "clean apology", and expressed relief to see the controversy coming to an end. Others pleaded with extreme malicious commenters to put the issue to rest and stop spreading further rumors.
