Korean netizens are talking about the U.S. starting to block TikTok.
On May 17th, Montana's governor signed a bill banning TikTok in the state. The state governor tweeted that he banned the social media app in Montana "to protect Montanans' personal and private data from the Chinese Communist Party."
While the law is facing constitutional challenges before taking effect, Montana officially became the first state to pass a bill banning TikTok. Shortly after the news went out, Korean netizens shared their thoughts about the news. Some of the comments include:
"Is the governor Republican? This seems what Trump used to do."
"TikTok is getting banned in other countries and states as well."
"Good riddance. TikTok made all the harmful things go viral not to mention the privacy issue."
"Doesn't this go against democracy?"
"I wonder if people are going to comply. Didn't they riot against the mask mandate for encroaching personal liberty?"
"I hope Korea bans it too."
"What would happen to people who make their living off of TikTok?"
"I guess it's not as prevalent in our country but it seems TikTok basically took over in the U.S."
What do you think?
