BTS's SUGA is making headlines recently after he offered a special event for his fans during his first solo tour concert held in Newark, New Jersey, on April 29.
During his concert, SUGA offered to take selfies with his fans using their smartphones but set a condition that he will only be taking them with Samsung Galaxy phones. As an official model for Samsung Galaxy advertisements, SUGA demonstrated a strong sense of responsibility for the product he endorses by insisting on using only the Galaxy for the photo-taking event.
SUGA's preference for Galaxy made headlines, with videos titled 'The true model who will take selfies only with the Galaxy' and 'I dedicate this video to the chairman of Samsung' being uploaded on YouTube on April 30. During the concert, SUGA repeatedly emphasized that he will take the Galaxy over the iPhone, saying, "If you offer me a phone, please give me only Galaxy. No iPhone."
Even after the concert, SUGA promoted the Samsung phone during the Weverse live streaming.
He showed off his Samsung Galaxy phone with his concert stickers and shared, "These are the tour merch; doesn't it fit the Galaxy so well?" He continued to joke, "I even have a Samsung TV at home. Samsung, please give me an advertisement for household goods too!"
Netizens are impressed with SUGA's mindset of advertising the product that he represents, and some netizens are saying other celebrities should learn from SUGA.
They commented, "Samsung should give him more advertisements, he has such a strong sense of responsibility in promoting their products," "I really like him," "Samsung, give him some home electronic advertising!" "Other celebrities should learn from SUGA," and "Love how he promotes Samsung products so loyally."
Meanwhile, BTS has had a longstanding relationship with Samsung Electronics since 2020, serving as advertising models for various products, including the Galaxy S20 series and Galaxy foldable smartphones. In fact, Samsung even released a special 'Galaxy S20 Plus BTS Edition' for BTS fans.
Last year, Samsung Electronics used BTS' team color, purple, to promote their products. The color 'Bora Purple,' which combines the Korean and English words for purple, was applied to the Galaxy S22 Basic Model and Galaxy Zflip4. The head of Samsung Electronics' mobile experience division, Roh Tae Moon, also made headlines for wearing a purple tie at a press conference.
'I reject 36% of my fans because...brand deal.'
That's praise worthy?
