BLACKPINK's official Twitter changes word from 'Macanese' to 'Macau' BLINKs as Chinese netizens express anger

BLACKPINK's official Twitter account has made a change on their recent post.
On a Korean community site, netizens discussed an issue raised by Chinese fans who criticized BLACKPINK for using the word "Macanese" instead of "Chinese" BLINKs. The controversial post was made on May 23 after the girls performed in Macau that week.
For a portion of Chinese netizens, 'Macanese' was allegedly an inappropriate greeting as it was "a Portuguese word referring to the denizens living in the area, including the descendants of Portugal." The dispute regarding the sovereignty over the territory of Macau among the People's Republic of China, Portugal, and all the inhabitants involved has long existed, which has led to this issue overlapping in K-pop with a greeting such as this one.
Based on the Korean translations of the Chinese reactions on Weibo, some comments include: "BLACKPINK purposely replaced 'Macanese' for 'Chinese,' but it was clearly the Chinese stars who collectively chased after this Korean girl group the other day?", "Koreans continue to steal Chinese culture and try to challenge against China."
Currently, the official Twitter account for BLACKPINK has changed the word from 'Macanese' to 'Macau.'
I think it's time we accept that Chines netizens are literally never going to stop pissing and shitting themselves. They will get angry when you acknowledge that any other place besides China exists.
