Netizens express divided opinions on NCT Jaehyun's recent Bubble messages

AKP STAFF

NCT Jaehyun's recent Bubble messages have stirred up a debate among fans shortly before the release of DOJAEJUNG's first unit album, 'Perfume'.

The idol wrote on April 7 KST,

"That's right. [If I don't send at least one Bubble message a week], I get an alarm kekeke. When the company first gave us the Bubble service contract, it was agreed that we would send at least 4 messages per month, so I thought that it would be a good way to consistently talk with you guys once a week, ask what's up and communicate more often. That's why I agreed to it. We have been using it to communicate for the past few years since then, but against my intentions, I was made aware that some people are disappointed or that they are talking about this in a negative light. There's nothing I can really do about the negative comments, but I sincerely want you all to know that my feelings and attitude toward you have not changed since debut. In truth, I did not want to bring these things up because I just wanted to talk about positive subjects with you, but I am expressing my thoughts now in the hopes that more people will not misunderstand me."

In response, some netizens felt that it was unnecessary to reveal the specific business contract details that artists are required to fulfill, and criticized his "bluntness":

"Did he really have to say all that to the fans? Sometimes I really don't want to but I still have to send messages? What fan wants to hear that?"
"But what about those times when you literally didn't send anything for a whole month."
"Ouch. That part where he's like 'I have to send a message 4 times a month', it sounds so cold and impersonal."
"The whole point of Bubble is to exchange personal messages with idols, but if he straight up treats it like business, of course the fans will be disappointed."
"It's up to him if he feels that way, but if there are fans who paid for the service and they felt like they wasted their money on you, they can have their 'negative opinions' too."
"I feel bad for his fans. There are so many idols you can talk to every day on Bubble and have interesting conversations with."
"Wow he actually said to his fans that he treats Bubble like work."

However, other netizens claimed that the above messages were "taken out of context", and those who are subscribers of Jaehyun's Bubble service expressed that they were plenty content with Jaehyun's messages.

"He has been sending us so many messages lately tho, despite being busy getting ready for the DOJAEJUNG album promotions. Why are people trying to enforce all these rules that don't exist? Not all idols have to send a Bubble message every single day."
"Just get off him. What did he even do? Drugs? Cigarettes? Cheat on girls? There are plenty of other idols you can go on hating for more justifiable reasons."
"These people can't actually find anything to hate on about him so they're trying to exaggerate the smallest things. It's simple, whoever is discontent can just cancel their subscriptions."
"I don't understand why Jaehyun gets so much hate when there are idols who are still promoting after bullying controversies or abuse controversies."
"If you're not a fan, hop off."

Well, Bubble isn't free so I can understand why people would be disappointed they aren't getting more bang for their buck. At the same time I can understand that idols like him simply like doing a simple weekly post and don't want to come off inauthentic by posting more content that they would be forced to.

Some people make it their life's mission to make something out of nothing.

I say you're fine, Jaehyun.
