On April 6, Kim Sae Ron personally clarified the rumors and controversies that circulated about her after the DUI incident.

In a recent interview with Money Today, the actress emphasized that she is the main breadwinner for her family. However, she clarified that she had not expressed any grievances regarding her financial situation. Kim Sae Ron explained that she was not the one who directly raised concerns about the financial challenges faced by her family.

According to former entertainment reporter and YouTuber Lee Jin Ho, Kim Sae Ron's mother is currently unemployed, and her father previously worked in the trading industry. However, due to the impact of COVID-19, his business faced difficulties. Consequently, Kim Sae Ron became the primary breadwinner of her family. Unfortunately, life became more challenging for the family after her drunk driving controversy emerged.

Despite the passage of time since the drunk driving incident, Kim Sae Ron has continued to face criticism due to subsequent controversies. She received backlash when she was spotted hosting another drinking party for her birthday just two months after the accident. Additionally, controversy arose when she posted photos of herself working at a café, but the franchise denied that Kim Sae Ron had ever been employed at any of their branches.

In regard to the café controversy, Kim Sae Ron told Money Today that she had worked as a one-time substitute at the cafe. She explained, "To be honest, I only worked there as a replacement for that day only."

She shared that she worked at a pub in Gangnam, which was operated by her acquaintance. She elaborated, "It's a pub that sells drinks along with meals. I was a waitress there for a few months." 

Money Today also asked whether she would appeal the fine, and she answered, "I believe I need to take responsibility for the mistake I made. So I have no thoughts on appealing."

Back on May 18, 2022, the actress was arrested for DUI after crashing into a guardrail, road verge, and transformer on the street of Gangnam. Her BAC was 0.2% at the time of the accident. 

Then on April 5, Seoul Central District Court imposed a fine of 20 million KRW (~13,202 USD) on Kim Sae Ron. After the hearing, Kim Sae Ron replied to the reporters' questions, saying, "I didn't complain about financial difficulties but it is true that I did work part-time. Also, it is true that the penalty is high." However, she acknowledged her mistake and pledged never to repeat it. She apologized, "I will never let this happen again. I'm sorry."
