The fierce battle to debut in the K-pop world continues as the seven Baby Monster trainees carry on with the competition on 'Last Evaluation.'

In the eighth episode of 'Last Evaluation,' the number of open spots for YG Entertainment's new girl group was revealed, along with the final mission for the girls.

On this day, Baby Monster trainees were informed they will perform a medley of the legendary YG girl group 2NE1 in a '2NE1 Mash Up' mission.

YG founder Yang Hyun Suk explained, "They're the songs that portray the characteristics of YG the most. I think it won't just be me but fans of 2NE1 and YG who also want to see how differently they'll perform the songs, so I gave them this mission."

After the girls gave it their all to perform their final mission, Yang Hyun Suk encouraged all seven girls saying, "I know you're all very skilled but since I'm a producer, all I think of is what the best combination would be and there is no such rank as to who is good or bad."

At the end of the last episode, Yang Hyun Suk sat down for an interview where he revealed that he was thinking about creating a five-member girl group from the beginning when he thought of the group Baby Monster.

He shared, "Ever since I started thinking and planning for this group Baby Monster, the number of members I had in mind was 5. None of the girl groups produced at YG had many members. There's 4 in BLACKPINK and 4 in 2NE1 too."

He added, "The final members of Baby Monster will be announced on May 12, which is 2 weeks from now. On May 12 at 12:00 AM, we will publicly announce the final members."

So stay tuned until May 12, when the final members of Baby Monster will be revealed!

The audacity. “Fans of 2NE1” want nothing other than to watch YG go bankrupt. YG sabotaged not only the group but the careers of its members.

YG failed to release collaborations between 2NE1 and famous artists overseas such as a Justin Bieber feature on I Am The Best and an English album produced by will.i.am, which could’ve turned 2NE1 into the breakthrough k-pop group in the West. YG delayed the 2nd full album by 2 years even though there were singles recorded and ready. As for the members, absolute mistreatment for each and every one of them:

Park Bom - YG failed to provide proper clarification over her 2014 “drug” scandal which could’ve easily been done had they simply disclosed what Bom herself had to do 5 years later (that the pills were Adderall and she suffers from ADD), but instead revealed some of her personal trauma (of a colleague dying in front of her during a soccer match) in order to create a sob story to the media, and when it backfired, they put her in hiatus and only renewed her contract as a group member but not as a soloist - which meant when 2NE1 disbanded, she was essentially fired from YG as a consequence.
Dara - Apart from very few opportunities in musical theatre and web dramas, Dara was basically kept in the dungeon or sent to do variety TV when she constantly expressed her wishes to go back to the stage. She never got big acting gigs despite being one of the main visuals of 2nd Gen K-pop and actually being a famous actress in the Philippines before her Korean debut.
Minzy - When someone essentially says “I left because I was suicidal and I was going nowhere in the company even though I was meant to debut solo and had a full album shelved after recording and my reputation was always pristine”, you know what an amazing support that company was. Minzy was the only one who managed to escape the dumpster fire that was contract extensions. Too bad her next company was also full of scammers.

CL - This one hurts to even think. Pure sabotage. CL could’ve been HUGE in the West. She had connections, she made music (lots of it), she has the vision, and YG literally didn’t allow her to release any music for three whole years. She saved some of those songs to herself and released them as the EP “In The Name of Love”. But she had a lot more. Not to mention, when the news of Minzy not renewing the contract broke out, CL literally dropped everything she was doing in the US, flew straight back to Korea to make a summer album (announced by YG along with Minzy’s exit) and try to salvage 2NE1 even if as a trio. Only for the project to be shelved and the group to be disbanded against the members’ will a few months later. Make it make sense.

if the full group will be 5 members, the other 2 will be the real winners.

so frankly, go to hell YG.

I'll wait until they actually debut. I don't want to incite fans by giving them false hope but YG always changes his mind for the final line up. He only wanted 4 for Big Bang but added Seungri last minute. He only wanted 7 for treasure, but they became 13 (originally, that is)
