According to reports by News1, KBS announced that it has decided to temporarily restrict Yoo Ah In's appearance on their network.
KBS bans celebrities who have caused social controversy with illegal or immoral acts and limits their appearance on their broadcast. Celebrities who have been charged with assault and sexual harassment, evasion of military service, habitual drug use and marijuana smoking, fraud, theft, gambling, and other cases of civil/criminal prosecution fall under the category of banned individuals with restricted broadcast appearances.
In addition to Yoo Ah In, who is currently under investigation for habitual drug use, Kim Sae Ron, Kwak Do Won, and Don Spike are included in the banned list of restricted KBS appearances.
For the case of Yoo Ah In, there may be changes in the actor's restriction depending on the results of the investigation in the future.
KBS and Yoo Ah In have had a long-term relationship. Yoo Ah In debuted in 2004 through the KBS 2TV coming-of-age drama 'Sharp.' He played the role of a high school student majoring in art who is dating Lee Ok Lim (played by Go Ara), the main character of the drama. Although he did not play a large part in the drama, his charming appearance and fresh charm caused a sensation. Despite being a sub-male lead, Yoo Ah In gained immense popularity from the drama.
After that, he continued to gain fame after appearing in KBS dramas such as 'April Kiss,' 'Drama City,' 'Strongest Chil Woo,' 'He Who Can't Get Married,' and 'Sungkyunkwan Scandal.'
Yoo Ah In is accused of using four types of drugs: propofol, ketamine, hemp, and cocaine. In particular, it was discovered that 4400 ml of propofol was administered only in 2021, and the actor visited the hospital 73 times for propofol. He averaged about 60 ml of medication per visit. Usually, 15 to 20 ml is administered during gastroscopy. He is currently undergoing investigation and has withdrawn from the Netflix original 'Hellbound.'
I doubt there will be changes since new evidence comes out every other day about his drug use. Since he doesn’t have anything new coming out I’m guessing this perhaps refers to reruns of any previous programs in which he participated? It’s just so sad to see any promising person’s career end this way, I know it must be difficult having all of this going on while dealing with addiction as well. I sincerely hope he’s getting the help he needs.
