On February 14, an official from the production team Group8 confirmed with TV Report that "the drama 'Princess Hours' will be remade." The official added, "But since it is a remake, there will be a difference from the 'Princess Hours' from 2006."
The 2006 drama 'Princess Hours' was based on the manhwa of the same title and takes place in a fictional world where Korea is a constitutional monarchy. In 'Princess Hours,' the story unfolds when the female protagonist, who is an ordinary high school student, has to marry the crown prince.
The comic book became a best-seller after its serialization back in 2003 and was translated into more than 10 languages, including Japanese, Taiwanese, French, and more.
In South Korea, the manhwa book was transformed into novels, dramas, and musicals, garnering much popularity nationwide. The drama that aired in 2006 reached a viewer rating of 27%, and its popularity led to a spin-off drama titled 'Prince Hours.'
The cast of the remake has not yet been confirmed, but there are many netizens and fans who are quickly gathering in various online communities to recommend the actors who would fit the leading roles. So far, many have suggested actors Kim Yoo Jung, Nam Ji Hyun, Kim Young Dae, and Lee Jae Wook.
Furthermore, the fact that Group8 is the production company in charge of the remake is also garnering attention. Group8 produced 'Princess Hours' in 2006 and also produced 'Boys Over Flowers' and 'Gangnam Beauty.'
