Some LOONA fans have decided to boycott the group's new release and BlockBerry Creative after they confirmed, on November 25, Chuu is no longer a member of the girl group and accused her of abusing power and language toward the staff.
The concerns were also raised due to the company not paying the artists since 2016, overworking them until collapsing on stage because of the exhausting schedule during the '2022 LOONA 1st World Tour', which leaded two members to take a hiatus, others leaving the stage crying, and even performing until developing a shoulder injury. Rumors stated 9 out of the 11 remaining members of the group had filed an application for a provisional injunction against the agency to suspend their exclusive contracts.
The purpose of the boycott is to protest BlockBerry Creative's mistreatment of LOONA, show solidarity with the members, and caution potential business partners of the company regarding the risks they face by working with them. The fans will continue boycotting until the accusatory statements against Chuu are retracted, an apology is made with regard to past mistreatment, and LOONA members are given the option to terminate their contract, if they wish to do so.
The goals of the boycott include no purchasing any products from BlockBerry Creative (merchandise, albums, tickets events, apps like FAB or Superstar LOONA, which include ads and paywall features), no streaming content published by the company (music videos and songs), and also unfollowing them on any social media.
Although the boycott doesn't include unfollowing LOONA's official account, the group has been losing a massive amount of followers with each post the company made regarding the comeback.
On December 14, the album preorders only reached 93 in the first 20 hours on 'Ktown4u', compared to 5,098 preorders from their latest album, "Flip That!", which shows a decrease of more than 98% just in that store alone.
Meanwhile, other K-pop stores have been supporting LOONA's fandom to boycott this release and have expressed their decision not to stock the new album.
Fans also commented: "The tracklist looks like the songs are all leftovers from previous albums," "This comeback seems rushed just to get any last coin out of the girls," "They didn't even say Choerry was back after her long hiatus," "If you have any doubts to do the boycott, remember HaSeul also stated not being paid," and "The girls have been silent on FAB since the injunction rumors, that speaks a lot."
What do you think about this situation?
woah, i think this is the first time i've seen a boycott being so well executed. 98% drop is insane, keep it going guys
