G-Dragon's recent Instagram story addressing the Itaewon tragedy sparked divided opinions.
G-Dragon was among many celebrities who expressed their grief following the tragic deaths of many young individuals in Itaewon. He took to his personal Instagram to post an image of a daisy flower losing its petals, with the words, "Pray for Itaewon...29.10.2022". While G-Dragon's post seemed to be no different from other celebrities' posts which also expressed grief regarding the recent tragedy, many netizens showed divided opinions on G-Dragon's decision to include the daisy flower image in his post. This is because the daisy flower image is well known to be G-Dragon's personal brand design.
Some netizens thought G-Dragon was insensitive by including his personal brand design to a post addressing a tragic event. They wrote:
"It seems like he's using a tragic event to promote his brand."
"Did he really have to [use his brand design]?"
"Even this is considered art?"
"I guess to him, another person's death is just another opportunity to show off his identity."
"It's cheap of him to use this for his brand."
"Does a daisy even have anything to do with Itaewon?"
Other netizens thought there was nothing wrong wiht G-Dragon's post and commented:
"I really didn't have any opinion on G-Dragon's post."
"What's wrong with that though?"
"Seriously, I don't have any thoughts on this."
"Everything is uncomfortable at this point. It's not like [G-Dragon] did anything."
"Once again, people are saying they're uncomfortable with something that's not even a big deal."
"Just leave him alone, sigh."
They basically want to find anyone to blame right now, a common enemy to appease their misplaced anger.
