Rumors that stars with foreign citizenship may soon be banned from appearing on Chinese TV programs are currently circulating on Weibo and other media platforms.
According to the rumors, this could even include those with Hong Kong or Taiwan citizenship. For specific programs, it's said that the number of cast members who are foreign citizens should not exceed half the total number of cast members.
Allegedly, the rumors began circulating around the same time that a Mango TV reality program, 'Promise For You', abruptly cancelled its broadcast last week, just 2 hours before its scheduled airing time. The five cast members of this program, who also appeared on the audition program 'Sisters Who Make Waves' season 3, largely consist of those with Hong Kong or Taiwan citizenship. However, according to the program's official SNS, the broadcast was "delayed due to file damage".
Another Mango TV program, 'Band By The Sea', also features cast members of 'Sisters Who Make Waves' season 3, including former Girls' Generation member Jessica.
Media outlets are currently waiting to see if additional programs will be affected by recent rumors.
So by banning stars from Hong Kong and taiwan, they are acknowledging that these 2 countries are not part of china.😏😏😏
