Shinhwa member Hyesung has issued an official statement in response to earlier reports regarding his arrest.
On October 11, Seoul Songpa Police arrested the Shinhwa member after discovering him sleeping inside of an allegedly stolen vehicle. The singer is reported to have refused a breathalyzer test.
Now, Hyesung's agency Liveworks Company has stepped forward to confirm that the Shinhwa member was in fact driving under the influence.
Liveworks Company stated on this day,
"Hello, this is Liveworks Company.
At time time, we would like to confirm what information we have gathered regarding Shinhwa member Shin Hyesung's DUI case.
On October 10 at approximately 11 PM KST, Shin Hyesung set out after a gathering with acquaintances at a restaurant. Hyesung, who had consumed alcohol during the gathering, received a set of keys from the valet parking attendant, then began driving home. However, on his way home, Hyesung stopped his vehicle on the road and fell asleep, and police were called to investigate the parked vehicle. Afterward, Hyesung was arrested for refusing the breathalyzer test.
Shin Hyesung has no excuses to give regarding the fact that he drove under the influence, nor that he took a vehicle without realizing that it was not his own. He apologizes sincerely for his actions.
Liveworks Company will continue to notify you regarding additional details on Shin Hyesung's case.
Once again, we apologize for causing concerns."
At least he pulled over. But still, if he had seriously injured or killed someone, it would be devastating.
