Seoul Songpa Police have revealed additional details on the ongoing investigation surrounding Shinhwa member Shin Hyesung, who was discovered asleep in a stolen vehicle in the early hours of October 11.
Despite initial attempts to deny that Shin Hyesung had stolen a stranger's vehicle, CCTV evidence submitted by restaurant 'A' proved that the Shinhwa member did in fact drive away in a stranger's vehicle of his own accord. There was no parking attendant on site by the time Hyesung left the premise.
Now, according to police on October 13, the Shinhwa member is currently facing investigation for possession and use of a stolen vehicle.
Based on evidence obtained by the police thus far, Shin Hyesung left a food establishment in Gangnam-gu, Seoul in the early hours of October 11 and boarded a white Genesis SUV along with an acquaintance. Initially, a hired driver drove the vehicle, and Shin Hyesung's acquaintance was dropped off in Gyeonggi-do Sungnam. Afterward, the hired driver was also dropped off at a nearby convenience store, and Shin Hyesung began to drive himself back home, operating the stolen vehicle for approximately 13 km to Songpa-gu, Seoul.
On the issue of how Shin Hyesung came to possess the stolen vehicle, his legal representative explained, "After a certain hour, the parking attendants at this particular restaurant leave for the day, and the keys of remaining customers are placed inside their vehicles, with the vehicles remaining unlocked. As Shin Hyesung was intoxicated, he automatically assumed that because the door to the vehicle was unlocked, that it was his own car."
Finally, Shin Hyesung's legal representative stated, "Shin Hyesung returned home after completing his police questioning earlier this afternoon (October 13) with the help of a legal representative. Shin Hyesung is strongly aware that he has made a grave and serious mistake for which he has no excuses, and he is currently deeply reflecting on his actions while also feeling greatly apologetic for causing a societal disturbance."
I guess where I live leaving a car unlocked and the keys in it is just asking for someone to steal from you. This whole thing is kind of funny ngl. I mean what he did was bad an unexcuseable but how did his hired driver and acquaintance not realize this wasn't his vehicle either? this is such a comedic mess...lol
