The Idol Star Athletics Championship has been a staple in Korean entertainment for over a decade now, and it is something to look forward to every holiday. The Idol Star Athletics Championship series began in 2010 and is typically held twice a year, on Lunar New Year and Korean Thanksgiving. The Fall Idol Star Athletics was held again this year on Korean Thanksgiving, and it was widely attended by many (mostly) fourth-generation idol groups. 

It's an excellent way for fans to see their favorite idol stars compete in sports, and it's always a grand time when you see them achieve a gold medal. It's a way to see them in a setting that you usually wouldn't see them in. The Idol Star Athletics is also a place where new skills and talents are discovered as we only see these stars on the stage, but you get to now see them in a place where they play sports as well! 

All in all, it's a friendly competition amongst the hottest idol stars, and if you're into k-pop idol groups, this is an event that you DO NOT want to miss.

Today -- we'll be taking a look at some of the most legendary gold medal moments by idol stars -- some were very unforeseen. Just when you thought that you saw all of your favorite stars, you get exposed to more talent! These people are all born to be stars (maybe even athletes). 2010 - Sistar //  Women's 400m Relay

We knew that these ladies weren't your average ladies when they all sprinted with great speed to win the gold medal! They got the nickname athlete-idols after this competition!

2011 - SHINee Minho // 50m Swimming

Minho proved his athletic ability when he cruised through hurdles and jumping; it was a triple crown when he took the gold for swimming as well!

2016 - BTS // Men's 400m Relay

Jungkook showed the impossible of impossible by the biggest comeback, and it got everyone absolutely LIT!

2014 - BTOB Minhyuk // Men's 60m Race

Minhyuk was named the Usain Bolt of k-pop idols when he zoomed through the race and got the first-place trophy.

2016 - EXID // Women's Wrestling

We knew when they were giving it all with their dancing on "Up & Down," but these ladies showed all their strength to win the women's wrestling category back in 2016!

2016 - WJSN Cheng Xiao // Rhythm Gymnastics

Cheng Xiao had plenty of previous experience in Chinese traditional dancing even before her debut, and her hard work paid off when she completely killed this category.,

2019 - SEVENTEEN // Men's Archery

SEVENTEEN hit the bull's eye four times in a row and even cracked the camera lens to earn the gold medal, and they even got the nickname "SEVEN-TEN!"

2020 - A PINK Bomi // Pitching

Bomi showed that she was perfect for baseball and softball when she absolutely destroyed the pitching category with perfect speed and skills. She became the pitching queen from that day.

2020 - Wanna One // eSports

Introduced as a new category, Wanna One came together after a few years of disbandment to show their chemistry and ultimately dominate the eSports category.

Well, there you have it! These are some of the most legendary gold medal moments in its twelve years of history -- Idol Star Athletics is always a good time because it happens on holiday, and it only happens twice a year.
