On October 3, YG Entertainment finally released a statement explaining that the agency will be taking legal action against the individuals who leaked personal photos of BLACKPINK's Jennie.
The agency stated on this day, "We are revealing that we have officially requested the police to investigate the original distributor of BLACKPINK’s Jennie’s personal photos. YG has been continuously monitoring the relevant content, and we submitted a complaint last September after collecting information."
YG Entertainment explained, "YG is taking strong legal action against posts that are tarnishing the character and reputation of our agency’s artist. We inform you that we have filed a complaint for defamation under the Information and Communications Network Act, violation of the prohibition of illegal information distribution, and obscene use of communication media for the actions of repeatedly uploading information that has not been verified to be true and writing excessively malicious posts."
It has been a few months since the dating rumors between BTS's V and BLACKPINK's Jennie began when photos of the two being seen on Jeju Island spread online. This started a debate about whether the photos were real or not, and the rumors seemed to die down without any statements from the two agencies. However, the rumors were sparked again when a user leaked private photos hacked from the BLACKPINK member. Various images were leaked starting in August, and the two companies didn't seem to take any legal actions against the hacker and leaker.
Then finally, on October 3, YG Entertainment claimed they would be taking legal action against the leaker. Fans are relieved that there is something being done finally and commented, "Wow, this is a relief," "Finally," "The leaker really needs to be sued," "Sue everyone who leaked the photos and shared the photos," "I really hope that YG Entertainment takes full responsibility and takes the legal action until the end," "People who hack private information and use it to their own amusement needs to be punished" "This wasn't a problem that would go away just by being silent," "They should have taken action sooner," "Finally, I hope they get caught," "I am hoping we get good updates," "There are so many people sharing the photos on Instagram, hope all of them are sued too," and "There are so many people who need to be punished for this."
About time. Not a blink - relieved anyway. No one deserves to be doxxed like that. Private life is called a private life for a reason. Fuck that guy.
