It has been about a month since Dispatch reported that Kim Yuna (31) and Forestella member Ko Woo Rim (27) will get married. Since then, all attention has been focused on the lucky man who will be tying the knot with the figure skating queen.
However, recently, Kim Yuna's future parents-in-law revealed in an exclusive interview that their son's feelings were hurt after the wedding announcement was made.
According to the monthly magazine Women's Chosun on August 23, Kim Yuna's future parents-in-law said in an exclusive interview, "We don't have much to say because our son asked me not to say much." Nevertheless, she added, "After the wedding announcement was made, our son's feelings were hurt a lot," and talked about the ungrounded rumors that spread on the web about their family.
Kim Yuna's future father-in-law is Pastor Koh Kyung Soo, who runs a church in Daegu. After Kim Yuna announced her marriage, unconfirmed rumors about her fiance's family have been circulating.
There were rumors that Pastor Ko has enormous financial resources or that Yuna Kim provides financial support to her future groom.
Regarding this, Yuna Kim's future father-in-law explained, "There is neither a church nor a house in our name," and explained, "There are rumors that Yuna bought us a house like a palace, but it's not true. Also, the wedding date was set by Kim Yuna and Ko Woo Rim."
Kim Yuna's future father-in-law expressed his feelings, saying, "Our child was hurt because things that aren't true were spread through YouTube as if they were facts. It really hurt our hearts because our child was hurt."
Meanwhile, Ko Woo Rim is around five years younger than Kim Yuna and graduated from Seoul National University's vocal music department. He appeared on JTBC's 'Phantom Singer Season 2' and garnered much attention. Since then, he has been active with the group Forestella.

It sounds like he wasn't upset over it being publicly announced as that likely had been discussed in advance, but he and his family didn't truly grasp what becoming a public figure would mean regarding the scrutiny and criticism of their lives by complete strangers on the Internet and how falsehoods would take on lives of their own and trend. As you read this, I think it sounds more like the parents aren't upset with Kim Yuna, as the clickbait title implies, they are disappointed and angry at the people who spread lies and rumors just for sport or out of spite about them and their son. A pastor of a church and his wife, especially if it is a fairly simple church, are likely completely unprepared for the level of scrutiny that is about to come their way when their child is marrying a major celebrity, no matter how well Yuna or her staff try to prepare them for that, and the son is likely to feel some guilt for his relationship/marriage creating problems for his parents. Sadly, while most of Yuna's fans are likely very happy for her, there are always that small group of sasaeng fans of a celebrity and their miserable allies in the general public that take glee in tearing others down.
