Earlier this year, Jay B confirmed that he was able to obtain the trademark for GOT7.
Recently, JayB revealed the process by which he was able to transfer the trademark to his own label, 528Hz. He explained in an interview with Sudsapda Magazine, a magazine published in Thailand, that he had gone through the process with JYP Entertainment's CEO.
The magazine asked, "How difficult is the process of earning the GOT7's trademark right?" to which Jay B responded, "The hard part is the trademark right of the units. For the members who live in Korea, it was not that hard. But we have some members who are not living in Korea. So I was trying to figure out how to get their signatures, and ultimately, I had to wait for them to visit Korea and then got their signature after they came to Korea. So that took a bit longer."
He added, "I didn't do anything great in particular. I think, no matter how much I think about this, CEO Jeongwook of JYP was willing to transfer the trademark rights was a bigger attribute to this. Thereafter, I just prepared the documents slowly. To be honest, that was delayed quite a bit, so I felt really apologetic towards CEO Jeongwook."
Jay B revealed that he received all the signatures of the members one by one to finalize the paper works that was needed to obtain the trademark for the group.
Meanwhile, leader Jay B previously moved trademark rights for the group to his own label, 528Hz, including the rights for album production, light sticks, live performances, and more. It was then revealed he obtained the rights to GOT7's unit names, which he shares ownership with his fellow members.
Then the group kept their promise to fans by making a group comeback as a whole with the EP 'GOT7' released on May 23.
JYP is known as the lesser of the three evils (Big 3). Not good just less evil on how they treat their talent.
