BTS's Jimin consistently gets recognition and praise for his personality, gorgeous visuals, and talent as an outstanding performer and vocalist.
On the 15th of July, veteran Music critic & BTS expert Kim Young Dae was hosted by esteemed operatic & pop tenor Lim Hyung Joo on his 'A song for you' show on CPBC Radio to talk about agencies leading in the K-pop wave along with BTS.
When Mr. Kim asked Lim about whom he liked the most in the group, the latter answered that although he likes all of the members, Jimin is his favorite because of his angelic face when he smiles. He added that he has watched his Vlives a lot and described him as soft and delicate. Kim agreed that while he may seem vulnerable, he portrays a powerful side full of perseverance, like an iron hand inside a velvet glove. When he speaks, he is soft and gentle, but when dancing on stage, he exudes turnabout charms, power, and a manly aura, hence bringing in perfect duality.
Jimin is indeed the epitome of being able to embody cute, sexy, and mature concepts perfectly as he stands out in every comeback. Lim Hyung Joo is one of the world's most influential operatic singers, the first and youngest Korean to receive the UN peace medal, as well as the first popera singer to join the Grammys voting committee. He has in the past appreciated Jimin's outstanding vocal techniques.
In an interview from 2019, he praised Jimin's vocals when he said:
"I noticed from Jimin's vocals his clear diction, high-pitch skills that extend straightforwardly, and excellent falsetto techniques in R&B sensibilities. This is very effective for emotionally appealing to the listeners."
Following the release of Christmas Love, a gift for ARMY, in December 2020, Grammy award-winning soprano singer Sumi Jo, together with Hyung Joo, appraised Jimin's delivery. In particular, Hyung Joo admitted to having listened to the song repeatedly and lauded Jimin for showcasing the power of music through his song.
On the 22nd, Kim Young Dae, a veteran Korean music critic serving on the selection committee for Korean music award shows, appeared on another radio station. When asked to recommend a BTS song that he likes, he picked 'Butterfly,' he said this was because the vocals are a work of art thanks to the spatial feeling at the beginning. He also liked the part where Jimin transits very much that the urge not to sing along was always difficult to contain.
Kim Young Dae has, on many occasions, shown admiration for Jimin, acknowledging his talent and passion always. When 'Butter' was released, he pointed out Jimin's second pre-chorus in the song as really good and the killer part. He was once quoted saying that when BTS is regarded as a sound, Jimin's voice is one of the most important auditory elements that make up the fingerprint and impression of the sound.
