On June 19, Kim Nam-Joon, aka RM, was interviewed by Weverse Magazine, and he shared his thoughts about the future and why he thinks the best is yet to come.
When asked by Weverse Magazine why the opening track on 'Proof' is 'Yet to come,' RM explained, "I had something like “High Hopes” in mind when I was first making 'Yet To Come'. It’s like a kind of wish: Yeah, that’s right. Our glory days aren’t now—they’re still ahead of us."
"I don’t believe in maintaining the status quo. You don’t climb to the top and stay there by maintaining the status quo. I feel like I need to do something better but I haven’t been able to grasp what it is yet. I always thought we were the kind of group who always had a grasp of, I guess you could say, the tipping point in any situation we faced. And we always knew what we had to do every time, but now I feel like I’m not sure."
'Proof' also includes the track 'Persona.' He said that he doesn't know what type of persona he is now. He continued, "I think I need to try taking a step away from myself for a minute. So now I’m worried if I’m just doing the things I’m given and if I’m losing myself in a way. It was never my intention to live feeling this way, and I want to live an independent and active life, but now I’m starting to wonder if I’m living too passively because of the pandemic, and it’s unbearable."
He also shared some thoughts regarding the future of BTS. He explained, "I definitely had a grasp of what this group is back in the day, but now it seems like I hit this phase where it’s impossible for me to know what the group is like or even who I am that clearly. What should BTS be saying to the world from now on? What position should BTS be remembered for taking at this point? How are we going to function moving forward? I want to get inspiration about these things from others."
RM usually posts pictures of different art exhibitions. When asked how art is connected to music, he explained, "I think the aesthetic I’m pursuing is ultimately reflected in my music. But I think the coolest thing of all is to make it look as natural as possible. Things that are so natural, we can’t know for sure whether it’s all a setup or not, but either way, it never feels artificial."
Lastly, he explained that we are living in an era where songs are becoming progressively shorter, and art can help attain some kind of everlastingness. He said, "I think I should be making things that will shine even after time passes. I think I need to approach something that’s more timeless. It really feels like everything is thrown out after just a few years with how fast the world changes, so it makes me think I want to attain some kind of everlastingness. Music may or may not do something for anyone, but if you look at artists and creators who have achieved something, they were all the ones who kept true to their essence no matter what the trends dictated, even if it made them lonely, or else the ones who protect whatever it is they pursued in the world."

these are sooo deep.. but it’s BTS. They are authentic, the reason why ARMY will always got their backs. They never worry or give a F over what industry said, because they’ve made their own success. No matter how hard the industry, competitor and media tried to fail them from the very beginning.. BangTan will always Run above everyone who fly.
