According to Oricon's chart update, BTS's anthology album 'Proof' debuted straight at #1 on the weekly album chart as it racked up over 514,000 copies sold in the first week of release. With this, 'Proof' now holds the record as the highest-selling album in first-week sales in 2022.
In addition, 'Proof' marks the global boy band's 10th #1 hit album on the chart, the most for any foreign artist in Oricon history. BTS are now also tied with TXT as the K-Pop group with the most consecutive #1 albums on Oricon's weekly album chart, both with 6 consecutive #1 hits.
With over 514,000 copies sold, 'Proof' is now the fifth-highest-selling first-week album sales by a foreign artist in Oricon history, just behind Mariah Carey's 'The One', 'BTS, THE BEST', BoA's 'VALENTI', and the group's own 'Map of the Soul: 7 ~The Journey`'.
