Netizens noted an interesting coincidence of three different K-Pop songs using the same sample sound for its intro!
Despite the fact that these songs were all composed by different composers, sung by different groups, and are all unique songs, there's a common factor that unites them - the guitar rift sample in the beginning.
Listen to all three songs for yourself, below!
1. Pentagon's "Genie:us" (released on April 22, 2019)
2. ATEEZ's "Dancing Like Butterfly Wings" (Released on June 10, 2019)
3. VERIVERY's "Childhood" (Released on April 25, 2022)
Netizens reacted with comments like,
"Wow, all three songs have different composers keke."
"I've known about Pentagon and ATEEZ having those two songs with the same sample, but VERIVERY released a song with the sample too? I'll listen to it!"
"I like the sample, I get why they all used it kekekekeke."
"It's such a refreshing and youthful sound kekekekeke."
"I love Pentagon's 'Genie:us' TT."
"That ATEEZ album is gold."
"This is really interesting."
"All of these songs have that bright, youthful vibe."
It's no secret that song producers make use of royalty-free samples - usually purchased from a web site called Splice. The samples from KSHMR are probably the most used ones. Fans just need to understand that, just because two songs use the same sample, doesn't mean one group is copying from another. You can't "plagiarize" something that's freely available to/for everyone.
