A 'Samyang Buldok' staff member says BTS's Jimin influenced the company to sponsor #PTD_ON_STAGE_LV
BTS is now halfway through their 4-day sold-out concert in Las Vegas, and it has been pure bliss watching Jimin on stage doing what he does best. He completely stole the show on D1 and D2 with his flawless vocals and dance, and striking beauty and fans had nothing but praises, admiration, and respect for him. Other than his top-tier performance, Jimin also became a hot topic because he single-handedly influenced one of the primary sponsors for the concerts to take the step to sponsor the shows.
Reports emerged that Jimin was the reason why Samyang Buldok made the decision to sponsor BTS' series of concerts in Las Vegas as one of the main sponsors for #PTD_ON_STAGE_LV. In an interview with one of the company's staff members who had attended Day1 of the concerts, the staff revealed that the sponsorship came to be because the product has become immensely popular in the US after Jimin had been seen eating it multiple times because he likes it.
Just the day prior to the beginning of the concerts, Channel A's 'Happy Morning' had mentioned Jimin while discussing Samyang Foods becoming the main sponsor of #PTD_ON_STAGE_LV for the 10th anniversary of Spicy Chicken Ramen. The channel spoke of it being one of Jimin's best dishes and mentioned his influence that caused the item's sales to skyrocket in the US and China, among other regions.
This was in reference to the reports in October 2020, where Business Watch Korea reported that sales of Samyang Foods' spicy chicken ramen had increased sharply in the US (158%) and China (33%) due to footage of Jimin eating the ramen. This was followed by various other reports in the following months from other media outlets, including The Hankyoreh newspaper, Bloomberg News, and many others, all reporting on Jimin's massive influence on the skyrocketing popularity of Korean dishes abroad [read more on this here and here].
Meanwhile, Korean media outlets reporting on BTS' events in Las Vegas, including their attendance at the Grammy Awards ceremony and their ongoing concerts, are all using Jimin's footage in their segments.
This is not the first time that this has happened. K-media has always highlighted Jimin in any reports on BTS' activities, such as during their concert in LA [read here and here], their online concert [read here], and when reporting on education matters [read here] among many other instances.
This time, YTN News reports highlighted Jimin's speech during BTS' press conference. At the same time, KBS News used extensive Jimin-centered footage when reporting on the group's attendance and performance at the Grammys and also highlighted his message during the VLIVE broadcast held after the show.
Any reports on BTS being the biggest music act in South Korea always use Jimin-centered footage for performances and single out his portion of speeches. His popularity abroad is mind-blowing, as seen by the fact that he caused a Korean food brand's sales to increase in the US and China, which prompted the company to sponsor BTS' concerts in the US. His kind of power, influence, and impact can only be dreamt of by many other individuals.
