Recently, netizens gathered in an online community to discuss the difference between debuting with a large major entertainment company compared to debuting with a small-mid size company.
One netizen created a post in a popular Korean online community, Nate Pann, and shared two photos. The post was titled, "The difference between a small-mid-sized company and large company comeback stages" and included photos of Red Velvet's comeback stage and Brave Girls' comeback stage performances on KBS's 'Music Bank.'
In the photos, Red Velvet's comeback stage was filled with marvelous props making the stage look magnificent and oneiric to match the concept of their comeback with "Feel My Rhythm." On the other hand, Brave Girls' comeback stage seemed a bit bare in comparison to Red Velvet's stage.
The netizen who created the post also added, "Usually small-mid-sized companies put a lot of effort so that the group doesn't seem like they're from a small company but Brave Girls comeback stage screams out that they're from a small-mid-sized company: their clothes, stage set, and etc. Red Velvet's clothes during RBB were much better than that."
Therefore, netizens joined the online community to give their two cents on the matter and commented, "I don't think this is a problem of being from a small-mid-size company, I think the problem is Brave Entertainment's management," "So even though the music program company decorates the stage, it's the agency that pays the money for it, so this just shows that Brave Entertainment didn't invest money into the comeback stages," "I wouldn't say this is because they're from a small company. Even BTS, when they were from a small company at the beginning, they invested a lot in their performance stages," "there are other groups that have better stage decoration even if they're from a small-mid-size company, so that won't be the issue," and "Brave Girls' stage for 'Chi Mat Ba Ram' was okay."
All you guys who are talking about how x agency needs to put more effort, or that the girls deserve better...are you guys completely oblivious to the fact that these are COSTS which will eat into any profits that the girls take home (if any)? Just 7 years ago, the stages and outfits were simpler, but as usual everything gets turned into a competition and people expect better (more expensive) stages and more fancier outfits. But all these things cost money, and for small agencies and lesser know groups, it's money they don't have - this kind of "arms race" will not only put smaller agencies at a disadvantage, but increases the debt that these groups themselves will eventually have to bear.
Why do you think popular groups have limited promotions to just two weeks? Because it means not having to spend $$$ on outfits for 4-5 more shows in the 3rd week. Unfortunately, unknown groups have to promote way longer to get their name out, but if fans set these unfair expectations on wardrobe, it just makes it more expensive for groups that don't really have the money.
And for what? So that a bunch of shit kpop fans can run off their mouths and virtue signal? Pretend like they care and whine in the comments, but then completely forget about it when the next kpop drama unfolds? i can pretty much guarantee that none of the shits in this comment section asking for better outfits, or that the "girls deserve better" bought a single one of their albums. So who do you think is actually funding all these demands? The agency? smh
