Just before a comeback, artists always release teaser content to prepare for their fans so that they can expect new music to be released.
This is process is more prevalent in the K-pop industry as many idol artists release various teaser content a few weeks before their comeback promotions. The period in which the teaser content is released varies but that period has become longer in recent days.
K-pop fans have also taken notice of this as well and gathered to an online community to discuss that the idol teaser periods are lasting longer than their actual promotion period these days.
Some of the netizens wrote on Twitter: "These days, K-idols promotion period is shorter than the period when they release teasers. I can't get used to it," and "True, they release teasers for a month and then they promote for two weeks and then they do video calls for six months."
Other netizens commented, "They don't do that many music show performances anymore," "It's because there's not much income from music show appearances," "I do think it's futile that they release teasers for a month and only promote for two weeks when we've been waiting for the comeback for so long," "But I think they release more content than before," "Yeah, two weeks of music program promotions is too short," and "This is so true. They release teasers for a long time and only do short promotions."
wild how during Gen 2 idols would promote for well over a month compared to today.
