'Big Issue' Korea magazine analyzes why BTS V's entire existence is "art" itself

Kim Taehyung, aka V, is a one-of-a-kind idol who stands out for his natural-born charisma and uniqueness. Everything about him has been analyzed by experts: his beauty, talents, personality, and success.

In Edition 271 of 'Big Issue' Korea magazine, K-pop columnist Isak Choi did a feature on Taehyung and explained why he is an idol whose existence is "art" itself. 

The article 'An ART called BTS's V' discusses how the phrase that defines Taehyung best is his popular nickname "Myeong Dong-young," which means "his face is a masterpiece, his personality is a fairytale, his life is a movie." 

Taehyung is praised for having a "good mask," which is mainly used to describe actors. He is a man of many faces who can play any role. His face can have both childlike innocence and intimidating coolness that makes people nervous. 

He has dominated both domestic and foreign beauty rankings for his classic beauty, but the expression "handsome" is not enough to explain V's mask. Taehyung uses his face to tell a story. 

An example given by the writer is BTS's music video of 'Run" from the HYYH album. There is a moment where he stares straight into the camera after struggling underwater. 

Another popular example is Taehyung's highly-praised live performances for 'Singularity' where his facial expressions are the most vital factor in setting the mood for his whole performance. 

While many 'visual' members of idol groups fail to stand out in the singing and performing department,  V breaks the norm by pairing his good looks with strong stage expressions, dance skills, and vocals.

His lovely and fairy-tale-like personality is seen in his genuine interactions with people and love for his fans which led him to create his iconic phrase "Borahae" or "I Purple You." Thanks to him, purple has become the love symbol of BTS's relationship with ARMYs. 

His romantic soul is also reflected in his self-composed songs that are filled with love and longing, and moments of his life are highlighted like a movie.
