Prosecutors are demanding rapper NO:EL (Jang Yong Joon) be sentenced to three years in prison for refusing to take a breathalyzer, DUI while driving without a license, and assaulting a police officer.
At the trial held on February 25th at the Seoul Central District Court hearing, the prosecution requested the court to sentence NO:EL to three years in prison, stating, "The defendant was on probation for DUI but committed another offense."
Earlier back on September 18 at 10:30 PM last year, NO:EL was driving his Mercedes-Benz car at the intersection of St. Mary's hospital in Banpo-dong, Seoul, when he had a collision with another vehicle. At that time, he was booked on the charges of driving without a license, refusing to take breathalyzer tests, and obstructing the execution of official duties. When he was arrested, he refused to take the breathalyzer test and head-butted the police officer.
Thereafter, the rapper posted an apology on his social media. However, this wasn't NO:EL's first controversy as he previously received no jail time for his DUI and attempted to conceal his DUI back in 2019. He was only given suspended sentencing of one year and six months with a two-year probation for his DUI. This caused much controversy as NO:EL is known to be the son of politician Jang Je Won.
I bet he'll appeal and write many fake apology letters and in the end he'll only get probation like 99% sentenced criminals in south korea.
