Kangnam has officially passed his naturalization exam.
On February 26 KST, Kangnam took to his YouTube channel to hold a live broadcast, where he announced that he has officially passed his naturalization exam. On this day, Kangnam showed the notice he had received from the Ministry of Justice that read, "Hello, Mr. Yasuo Namekawa, we would like to inform you of the results of the naturalization interview screening." Kangnam then opened up his results and could not speak for a while. Soon, he then raised both of his hands and cheered, revealing that he had passed.
Kangnam stated, "I became naturalized after 3 years. It feels like all my blood is flowing downward. I'm so thankful that I passed. It's thanks to you all." He then thanked his wife, retired Olympic speed skater Lee Sang Hwa, and his family and friends.
Kangnam, born in Japan to a Korean mother and a Japanese father, attempted to become a naturalized citizen of South Korea since 2018 after his marriage to a South Korean Olympic athlete, Lee Sang Hwa. After failing two times, Kangnam has officially passed his naturalization exam as of today.
Congratulations to Kangnam!
Congratulations, your effort paid off.
