It was reported on January 27, the High Court of the South Korean Armed Forces has reduced the sentence of former Big Bang member Seungri to one year and six months in prison, during his final appeals trial.

According to the media outlet reports, Seungri admitted to all 9 of his criminal charges during the High Court's appeal hearing and submitted a statement of reflection for his wrongdoings. The High Court took into consideration that the defendant admitted to his charges and showed reflective behavior while adjusting the initial trial ruling.

Back in August of 2021, the military court sentenced Seungri to a total of 3 years in prison, as well as a fine of approximately 1.156 billion KRW (~ 960,000 USD), for his nine criminal charges, including embezzlement, violation of food sanitation laws, sexual assault, illegal camera filming, solicitation of prostitution, habitual illegal gambling, illegal foreign monetary transfer, assault, etc. However, Seungri's legal representative filed for an appeal in October of 2021

With the news that Seungri had been sentenced to only one year and six months in prison, Korean netizens gathered to an online community to express their anger and share how baffled they are with the Korean justice system. These netizens commented, "This is amazing, lol, the Korean justice is just awesome," "I need to leave Korea, there is no future for the Korean justice system," "So he received reduced sentencing?? reduced??
