Low marriage rates for South Koreans born in the year 1988

South Korea has been facing low fertility rates over the past few years and has had the lowest fertility rate in the world for two consecutive years.

Experts have analyzed this was due to a vast number of young men and women opting out of marriage. In a recent survey, it was revealed that one out of four people in their 20s and 30s choose not to marry and voluntarily stay unmarried.

 Surprisingly, more than half of the young men and women born in 1988 were found to be unmarried. According to a survey, 72.9% of men born in the year 1988 were unmarried, while 52.1% of women were unmarried.

This age group had the highest percentage of unmarried individuals, at 61.4% of both genders being unmarried and only 39.3% being married.

In fact, some of the netizens gathered to an online community, and it was revealed that many of the netizens born in 1988 claimed not to be married. These netizens gathered to share their thoughts on this matter and also share their reasons for being unmarried. Netizens commented, "I'm born in 1988 and I'm not married. Most of my friends are not married too," "I'm born 1988 and most of the 1988 people around me are unmarried," "I'm not born in 1988 but the people born 1988 that I know are not married," "I'm born in 1988 and I am married. I have kids but my friends are not married," "I think the people who have the financial stability get married to each other," "90% of the people who are around me are not married and don't really want to get married," and "I think it's because of the day and age. A lot of people don't see the necessity to get married."
