BTS' Jimin is shining both as a Louis Vuitton and FILA brand ambassador
Apart from being a fashion icon recognized by several major and reputable fashion and lifestyle magazines such as VOGUE, ELLE, and GQ, Jimin has also been the number 1 idol in brand reputation for 34 months back-to-back, and a total of 36 months. This ranking gauges an idol's marketability in the economy of South Korea and influences brand endorsement deals among other things. Jimin's marketability is also high on a global scene as evidenced from data from google trends as of last month, which shows that he was the most searched BTS member in the past year and the past five years in the 'news' category and the 'celebrity and entertainment' categories. Fashionbiz, a leading Korean fashion magazine also named him as the reason why the global ambassadorship deal between BTS and Louis Vuitton was able to come to fruition. All these are testaments to his high brand value and global impact.
The past few weeks have been proof of this high brand value and global popularity as he has caused various items from Louis Vuitton, FILA, and other brands to sell out within hours of him being seen with them. Notably, BTS are brand ambassadors for both FILA and Louis Vuitton.
Recently, on October 20, BTS held a surprise Vlive broadcast to talk about their upcoming concert. In this broadcast, Jimin wore black pants with a green sweatshirt, both from Louis Vuitton. Less than 24 hours later, both items were out of stock on the Louis Vuitton official website. The pants sold out in 16 countries, and the sweatshirt sold out all sizes in 9 countries with only 2 sizes remaining in 14 other countries. He also has black sneakers which went out of stock on at least 14 websites.
In the case of FILA, Jimin's 'Dynamite Basketball hoodie' went out of stock twice on the FILA Korea website, with the inventory being a re-stock. What is more, the second re-stock sold out in under an hour from when the hoodie was re-stocked first. Of note is that Jimin's hoodie was first to sell out among the members, both on the first and second restocks.
Previously his FILA Dynamite hoodie sold out fastest in just 2 hours after its release on September 16 and ranked first on FILA Korea's website among the best-selling items on the daily chart. This is despite the fact that his version of the hoodie was priced higher than the other members' versions. Jimin's apparel for FILA has always been known to sell out first whenever the brand releases a new line.
In the case of Louis Vuitton, previous out-of-stock situations have become a norm too when Jimin wears items from the brand. BTS's trip to New York to attend the 76th United Nations General Assembly became yet another chance for Jimin to re-affirm his status as a fashion icon and a brand king.
Photos taken at the Incheon airport showed that he was in an all-black Louis Vuitton fit, with accessories such as a necklace, a watch, and a bag.
As reported by Korean media most items he wore to New York got sold out in different countries and also on different online stores, after he attracted lots of attention with this look. The outfit itself was a pre-collection item, and so was unavailable for sale. However, all the accessories and shoes were sold out in different countries and online stores within hours of his appearance.
Some fans even posted pictures of them having purchased these items on their social media. One fan posted the bag and another posted the necklace.
It is not surprising that the items sold out that fast, considering the buzz that he made on the internet with the look, such as on the online community platform, the qoo. Korean netizens praised his look and how he carried himself, with one even specifically mentioning the bag. This person said the bag was pretty and they wanted to buy it. Jimin's influence on the public and on fans is unmatched.
While in New York, BTS met up with Coldplay, with whom their collaboration single just got released today. Here, once again Jimin wore a shirt and shoes from Louis Vuitton.
The shoes got sold out in 22 countries on the brand's official website. Mainly, 20 countries saw the shoes going completely out of stock, whereas two countries had only two sizes left.
The shirt also went out of stock in all sizes, leaving only one size available for purchase in 22 countries as per the information on the brand's official website. On the other hand, 9 countries were reported to have completely sold out the shirt, whereas 13 countries had only one size left.
The group also visited the Metropolitan Museum in New York following the delivery of their speech. Here, once again Jimin had a Louis Vuitton jacket as fans found out.
Again, the jacket was reported to have gone out of stock in all sizes in 24 countries, according to the brand's official website. Ten countries recorded the jacket to be completely sold out in all sizes, whereas 14 countries reported 2 sizes to have been sold out.
On his return to South Korea, Jimin had the same Louis Vuitton accessories and a Maison Margiela Cashmere Crewneck Jumper.
The shoes got completely sold out in 20 countries once again as per the information on the brand's official website, with 22 countries showing that just a few sizes were still available. Additionally, the Jumper sold out all but one size on the official website.
Prior to the trip, the group had collaborated with the legendary British rock band, Coldplay, and released 'My Universe'. In the music video, Jimin has a Jacket that fans identified to be from Junya Watanabe. It went completely out of stock from the FARTECH online store.
Meanwhile, while BTS was still in New York, RUN BTS episode 152 was aired. The sweatshirt he had in this episode also went out of stock on three different online retailers, with one of the retailers reporting only one size left in stock at low quantities.
Additionally, the hoodie he wore in the Grammy behind the scenes video sold out on 3 different online stores.
More recent items from other brands aside from LV and FILA include knitwear from RECTO and the shoes which he wore in Hyundai Worldwide, with the shoes going out of stock on 7 websites. The JW Anderson hooded t-shirt worn in RUN BTS, which sold out on 11 online stores. Additionally, the pants he wore in 'In the Soop 2' preview pictures sold out on 6 online stores, and the Dior bag he had in the first episode of the show went out of stock in 33 countries and regions.
On his birthday Vlive, the hoodie he had gone out of stock on 2 online stores, and on one store there were only 2 sizes left. In the same Vlive, he had Louis Vuitton earrings which also went out of stock in 25 countries.
Jimin is a brand king. Statistics on his impact and brand value concur perfectly with the actual events on the ground on different occasions. He is arguably the best deal that any brand can get in terms of a brand ambassador. Anything he touches goes out of stock within hours and sometimes within minutes, irrespective of the pricing of the item. In this instance, some of the items were from Louis Vuitton, a high-end fashion brand. The items were highly-priced, but this did not stop his fans from acquiring the items he had. Fans are excited to witness more of his impact in the future, and hopefully, see more endorsement deals come his way.
Congratulations to the Brand King and the Sold Out King.
Park Jimin is indeed our Brand king. He just has the magic touch to the clothes and accessories.
