The highest record held by a Korean Netflix series was previously held by 'Sweet Home', which had ranked #3 in the United States. 'Squid Game' has now broken this record by achieving 1st place in the United States.
'Squid Game' depicts the story of various people who participate in a mysterious survival game that offers the winner 45.6 billion won. The players all risk their lives playing deadly games in order to become the ultimate victor. Director Hwang Dong Hyuk, known for his hit film 'The Crucible (Silenced)' and comedy film 'Miss Granny', took on this project.
