Many netizens took to Twitter in order to call out SM Entertainment for alleged plagiarism, regarding NCT Dream's track "Countdown (3, 2, 1)" and TXT's track "Blue Orangeade".
Speculations of plagiarism began to spread across social media after netizens noticed that SM Entertainment had belatedly credited two HYBE producers, Slow Rabbit and Supreme Boi, in NCT Dream's track "Countdown (3, 2, 1)". In addition to many netizens hearing similarities in the beat used by NCT Dream's track "Countdown (3, 2, 1)" and TXT's track "Blue Orangeade", the late addition of the two HYBE producers in the credits for "Countdown (3, 2, 1)" further raised speculations that this had been done due to copyright issues.
NCT Dream's track "Countdown (3, 2, 1)", a b-side track from their 1st full album 'Hot Sauce', was released in May of 2021. On the other hand, TXT's "Blue Orangeade", a b-side from their debut EP album 'The Dream Chapter: Star', was released back in March of 2019. The composer list for "Blue Orangeade" includes Slow Rabbit, Moonshine, Cazzi Opeia, Ellen Berg, and Supreme Boi, while "Countdown (3, 2, 1)" originally only listed Moonshine, DEEZ, Bobii Lewis, and Rick Bridges (X&).
As of October 1 KST, Slow Rabbit and Supreme Boi have been additionally added in the composer list for "Countdown (3, 2, 1)".
