Being a 7-membered idol group leader is not easy, especially when you’re the youngest in your family and have no younger siblings to practice on. Despite that, INFINITE’s Kim Sunggyu proved his maturity and natural leadership skills when it was time to lead INFINITE, and he has been doing a great job for the last 10 years. Time and again, he has improved how, despite having a friendly relationship with the members and letting them tease him, he has always been leading them silently from the background. He led the team through their almost disbandment back in 2011 before Be Mine became a hit, and also through the departure of member Hoya as they started on a new journey with 6 members. 

While we always see Sunggyu playing around with his members, we got a glimpse of the scary leader Sunggyu through this intense moment in Seasame Player while they were all practicing just before the comeback of their hit song, Be Mine.

Sunggyu is always there to listen to the worries of the members, but he wouldn’t burden them with his own worries.

Being a leader means you need to sometimes communicate with your members in a social situation without saying anything. Sunggyu has perfected the skill of speaking with his eyes, leading to hilarity!

Sunggyu recently opened up about his hardest moment as a leader and explained that he had always thought of himself as a representative of the other members.

In a Vlive, Dongwoo mentioned how Sunggyu always talks about protecting INFINITE in their group chat ("We must protect INFINITE") and how that means protecting INSPIRITs and the members. Dongwoo made this heart-touching declaration that he will always follow his leader hyung.
