Despite backlash and negative comments from some of their Japanese fans, there are celebrities who continued to post the Korean flag on their social media every March 1st.
On March 1st, WINNER's Kang Seung Yoon posted a photo of the Korean flag on his Instagram commemorating the 'March 1st Independence Movement.'
Likewise, Kang Seung Yoon had continued to post the Korean flag on every national holiday since he created his social media account in 2017.
In addition, Kang Seung Yoon also posted a photo of himself wearing the special T-shirt created to celebrate the 110th anniversary of independence fighter Ahn Joong Geun's death.
The T-shirt was designed with Ahn Joong Geun's handprint with a verse from Yoon Dong Ju's Poem 'Prelude.'
Jeon Hyo Sung also posted a photo of the Korean flag on her Instagram on this day. She posted the Korean flag photo along with the advertisement billboard of the Korean Hanbok in Times Square. She wrote in the caption, "It's is an honor that I was able to participate in a project that shows the Hanbok, which is our history and culture, to the world. I'm thankful every day and I will never forget the countless sacrifices on that day."
Jeon Hyo Sung also expressed love for her country by posting the Korean flag every national holiday.
However, some Japanese fans have criticized them for their actions. Jeon Hyo Sung was previously under fire for uploading a post in honor of the comfort women.
Kang Seung Yoon had also been criticized for post a Korean flag on his Instagram on March 1st last year. Still, these two celebrities continued to commemorate the holidays every year.
Why were they criticized? For paying homage to a movement that led to their independence from the Japanese government?
