The café owner in the problematic moldy cake has apologized to both the public and Solbi.
The cake, which was later explained to be supposedly a display-only cake, was sold to a family who cut it open to find it full of mold. The café owner originally wrote an apology making it sound like Solbi was responsible for part of the ownership, but it has now come to light that Solbi actually does not take part in the management of the cafe at all. As this has come to light, many netizens criticized the cafe for placing the blame on Solbi, a public figure, and the part-timer, who has nothing to do with the management.
The actual owner of the cafe has written an apology clarifying that Solbi was not responsible for the day to day management of the cafe.
The apology reads: "Hello. This is Kim Sang Ki, the owner of Vila Vila Cola. The reason this happened is because we were careless in taking care of the store. I know how important hygiene is as I have worked in the food industry for a long time. This should have never happened, and I am embarrassed and take responsibility. I apologize once again to the individual who bought the cake. I will meet with them again to apologize sincerely again and work to make sure her family is okay. I am also sorry that I did not take sincere measures after the harm was done.
Additionally, I apologize to Solbi, who is sharing the space with us as an artist. I did not have any consideration for her because I believed she didn't care about the cafe management. We will be revamping our hygiene system after this and use an outside specialist for systemic management of hygiene. We apologize once again to our Vila Vila Cola customers as well as the customer who suffered the harm."
I still would never eat anything from there. And this late apology and admission makes it more offensive.
