The '30th High1 Seoul Music Awards' was held on January 31 at the KSPO Dome, and this year's hosts were Super Junior's Heechul, Shin Dong Yup, and Girls' Generation's Sooyoung.
This year, they announced new special categories to celebrate the 30th year of the award, including a special award called "Legend Grand Prize" that includes all the artists that won the Daesang award in the last 29 years. A total of 22 artists were nominated, including EXO, BTS, TVXQ, Seo Taiji N Boys, PSY, Wonder Girls, Girls' Generation, and more. Almost one million votes were counted, and the winner was the one and only BIGBANG!
The winner was announced on a special video during the show, showing BIGBANG winning their first Daesang in 2007 and accepting the award with tears of joy. But the video made fans angry, as they blurred out Seungri and T.O.P's faces! Which fans thought it was hugely disrespectful, as all the members helped build BIGBANG, and they took it together to the top. Fans demand Seoul Music Awards to address this, but no response was given.
Congratulations to BIGBANG winning another award despite being on hiatus for years, but their impact still lives on.
