Jungkook now holds the most retweeted Tweet by a K-pop idol for 3 consecutive years - while being barely active on Twitter
STAR CONTRIBUTOR
Twitter just released their 2020 Year In Review in their article"Spending 2020 Together on Twitter".Jungkook's "Never Not" Tweet is listed as #2 most retweeted Tweet in the world for 2020, while the Tweet announcing Chadwick Boseman's passing being #1. Additionally, BTS tops the most Tweeted musicians list (again!) this year.
Twitter Korea announced Jungkook's Tweet being the #2 most retweeted Tweet in the world for 2020, along with the news of BTS being #1 most Tweeted musician for 4 consecutive years.
Jungkook now holds the most retweeted Tweet by a K-pop idol for 2020, repeating his 2018 and 2019 feat.
In 2018, Jungkook's Tweet of him singing Park Won's "All Of My Life" was the most retweeted Tweet in Korea. Twitter Korea announced the Tweet as the Golden Tweet 2018.
While in 2019, Jungkook's "Duh" Tweet, which shows him dancing to Billie Eilish's "Bad Guy," was the most retweeted Tweet in the world. Twitter announced Jungkook took over the throne on their @TwitterData account and their Year In Review article "#ThisHappened in 2019".
Fun fact: Jungkook's Twitter domination actually goes way back to 2017, when a Tweet posted by V which shows Jungkook being fed french fries while he was sleeping was announced as the most retweeted Tweet in Asia, or Asia's Golden Tweet for 2017.
Apparently, Jungkook's Twitter domination does not only limit to the "most retweeted Tweet," as previously the Golden Maknae made huge headlines when he became the only person in the world besides Barack Obama to have more than 1 tweet with over 2 million likes on Twitter.
Now that ARMY fandom grows bigger, all BTS members have at least 2 million likes for their Tweets.
Speaking of growing fandom, BTS' Twitter account @BTS_twt had a significant spike in new followers after Jungkook posted his "Never Not" tweet. The new followers surged up to nearly 46,000 for the day, which is double their usual daily growth. K-pop columnist Jeff Benjamin posted about this on his account, saying, "The #JungkookEffect? The day Jungkook uploaded his cover of @Lauvsongs' "Never Not" on @BTS_twt, the account earned an additional 46,000 new Twitter followers. That's more than double than their usual growth!".
The fact that Jungkook achieved all these by coming on Twitter once in a blue moon, speaks volume of his huge impact. It is simply what people call the ‘Jungkook Effect.’
