BTS’s V shares insight on the making of his first self-composition “Scenery” in BTS’s new docu-series “Break The Silence.”
BTS’s V shook the music industry with his first-ever self-composed song entitled “Scenery” in January 2019. The song which showcases his fine artistry as a lyricist and composer laid a strong foundation for his career as a songwriter as well as a composer and producer.
While the song became a chart-buster on SoundCloud and touched millions of hearts worldwide, V maintained a vague silence on the making of the song. However, a year later, thanks to BTS’s new docuseries: Break The Silence, the questions regarding “Scenery” have finally been answered.
In one of the scenes, V shared a demo of the song which as beautiful as it sounds, was very different from the released version.
As the episode progressed, fans were also blessed with a glimpse of the initial draft of the lyrics as V spoke about his struggles as well as dreams as a song-writer.
V noted on how he wished to translate the moments of his life he holds dear to his heart into songs and said: “The way I look at the world when I take photos, the people I see through the lens, the scenery, the streets, and the sky, I wanted to write about what those things mean to me.” He further added on the importance of photography to him and said: They are not just photos, but a real source of strength to me.”
The episode beautifully highlighted V’s authenticity and creativity as an artist as he worked hard at recording the song as well as personally adding the sounds that perfected “Scenery” into the well-thought-out and detailed masterpiece that it is today.
V also shared what “Scenery” stands for and said: By looking at photographs, I can reminisce about my memories. The song is saying “this is how I spent my youth.” I want more memories like that and I will continue to capture them.”
Since the release of “Scenery”, V has graced us with various other incredible self-compositions such as “Winter Bear” and “Sweet Night” which not only showcases his growth as a singer-songwriter but as an artist with the potential to be one of the finest composers in the industry.
I really want the backstory for how he wrote the 'Sweet Night' ost because here he says that he struggles expressing himself well but on this song the poetry in his lyrics really slaps you in the face. I still remember feeling emotional when I first listened to it. I hope in future documentaries they go over it, I would love to see where the lyrics came from.
On my pillow Can't get me tired Sharing my fragile truth That I still hope the door is open Cause the window Opened one time with you and me Now my forever's falling down Wondering if you'd want me now
How could I know One day, Id wake up feeling more But I had already reached the shore Guess we were ships in the night, night, night Ah-ah-ah, ah-ah-ah Ah-ah-ah, ah-ah-ah We were ships in the night, night, night
I'm wondering, are you my best friend? Feels like a river's rushing through my mind I wanna ask you if this is all just in my head My heart is pounding tonight, I wonder If you are too good to be true And would it be alright if I Pulled you closer

On my pillow
Can't get me tired
Sharing my fragile truth
That I still hope the door is open
Cause the window
Opened one time with you and me
Now my forever's falling down
Wondering if you'd want me now
How could I know
One day, Id wake up feeling more
But I had already reached the shore
Guess we were ships in the night, night, night
Ah-ah-ah, ah-ah-ah
Ah-ah-ah, ah-ah-ah
We were ships in the night, night, night
I'm wondering, are you my best friend?
Feels like a river's rushing through my mind
I wanna ask you if this is all just in my head
My heart is pounding tonight, I wonder
If you are too good to be true
And would it be alright if I
Pulled you closer
