The SBS drama next Friday "The King: Eternal Mo
narch" has shared new images of Lee Min Ho and Woo Do Hwan as they live as emperors and bodyguards in parallel universes.
"The King: Eternal Monarch" is the latest work by screenwriter Kim Eun Sook and tells the story of two parallel universes, one in which Korea is a constitutional monarchy and one similar to the current republic. Emperor Lee Gon (Lee Min Ho) tries to close the door between the two worlds with the help of detective Jung Tae Eul (Kim Go Eun) to save people's lives.
In the drama, Lee Min Ho and Woo Do Hwan portray Emperor Lee Gon and imperial head guard Jo Young. The two met for the first time as children in the royal palace and through many ups and downs, had formed a strong bond of trust like brothers.
The new still image shows Jo Young following Lee Gon as he attended the funeral. The emperor radiated warmth and sadness when he met the family of the deceased, while Jo Young was always right behind him, watching over the situation and doing his best to protect the king with the help of his security team.
After Lee Gon paid his respects, he was quickly escorted out by Jo Young when reporters crowded around them, and the security team did their best to protect Lee Gon when he returned to his car.
"The King: Eternal Monarch" premiered at 10 pm. KST on April 17.
