On February 9, YG Entertainment registered “Manobal Lalisa” and “Manobal” as a trademark in the Clothing Category.
The Trademark filing date was in December 2019 and the status is active starting January 2020. The filing shows that they are attempting to trademark her name for merchandising purposes, including the creation of underwear, mufflers (neck scarves), and other ready-made clothing.
It seems like BLACKPINK's Lisa is going to start her own clothing line.
However, recently a discussion started around about the (trade)mark names of other YG artists: G-Dragon and Taeyang. If they don't renew their contracts with YG this year, they lose rights to their artist names since YG Entertainment will have the rights of their names.
Now, many Blinks are scared that Lisa is going to lose the rights of her full name and can't use her full name after she leaves YG.
Yeah, ygent truly did her dirty right here. She won't be able to use her OWN legal name once she leaves that company. I just hope that Lisa knows abt this issue beforehand.

This is so sad, imagine not having the rights to use your own birth name if you aren't in the company anymore

Remarkably, the name 'Manobal' is used and not 'Manoban'. Lisa has always been introducing herself with the name 'Lalisa Manoban'.
Lisa cleared this confusing matter in the videos below. She said that Thais pronounce "L" as "N", so her name got written as "Manobal" when it got translated to Romanization. In fact, it should be pronounced as "Manoban", so it's just Manoban.
Also, she tells that she doesn't like 'Manobal', because it sounds weird. So why did YG register 'Manobal' as trademark when Lisa doesn't even like that name?
The one who still confused with Lisa name Manoban vs Manobal
The way she reacted when someone spelt manoban "manobal", I can’t even imagine how she would feels to see her proper company spelling her manobal
1. She can’t lose rights to her name if it’s a legal name of hers (birth name, legal change of name etc.)
2. Many artists have left YG and have kept their stage names and in fact many artists have left other companies and been able to keep their stage names.....
Tablo, PSY, CL, Minzy, Gummy .... better yet, they’ve all been allowed to take their music with them too
