Daesung was reportedly very well aware of the illegal entertainment businesses being operated in his Gangnam building before he purchased it.

'A' who attended the legal advisory meeting with Daesung when he sought legal advice confirmed the allegations to the Kukmin Ilbo Monday in a telephone conversation and stated, "Daesung, accompanied with real estate officials and bank branch managers consulted with a law firm on September 20, 2017 before purchasing the building in Nohyeon-dong."

He added, "At the time, Daesung asked if he could just fire the business owner if he was caught running the illegal business. The lawyer answered to the effect of "Daesung can't unilaterally kick out the owner. The manual was written as conservatively as possible. But if he [Daesung] bought the building and ignored his management responsibilities, he could be punished for aiding the prostitution."

Regardless, two months later in November, Daesung purchased the building.
