AOA's agency, FNC Entertainment, has announced that Mina has not renewed her contract and will be leaving AOA.
The statement released by FNC Entertainment stated,
"After a long and deep discussion with Mina, we have decided to go a different way with AOA and respect Mina's decision to terminate her contract and leave the team.
The remaining five members of AOA have agreed to maintain their team and renew their contracts. The relationship between FNC and AOA is built on a foundation of mutual faith and trust, and we will be providing full support for the five who have signed their contracts to continue their activities as a unit."
As a result, AOA, which made its eight-member debut in 2012, will be reorganized into a five-member group for the first time ever following Mina's departure from the team this year, Youkyung's departure in 2016, and ChoA's in 2017.
AOA plan to continue to actively engage in music activities as a five-member group and to further promote their activities at home and abroad. This will also apply to films, dramas, entertainment shows, and creative endeavors on an individual-scale.
With Seolhyun's career outside of AOA in serious decline, it's probably a wise move for her not to throw away her teammates and for her teammates, they're probably happy she stuck around so they can still cash in off their legacy by making appearances at E-sports events and the occasional overseas fanmeet but AOA's impact as a group left the moment Choa went out the door so don't expect anything revolutionary moving forward.
