The South Korean government has issued a state of emergency as of April 5 at 9 AM KST, in response to the dangerous mountain wildfire currently spreading across the Gangwon province.
The state of emergency affects the following Gangwon province regions: Goseong, Sokcho, Gangreung, Donghae, and Injae. The government explained that the state of emergency was issued in order to enlist as much resources as possible in the fastest amount of time, to prevent further damages and resolve the issue in its entirety.
The government currently plans on installing emergency evacuation quarters as well as emergency medical and legal aid stations in the affected areas. As of April 5 at 7:30 AM KST, approximately 250 square hectare (~ 617 square acres) of mountain as well as 125 residential buildings have been consumed by fire.
This is terrible, how many people going to be homeless from this? Hope no casualty and the government provide aids/shelters to everyone pronto!
