According to reports on April 10, Dongshin University's appeal asking the Ministry of Education to withdraw their order to cancel the degrees of Highlight members Doojoon, Kikwang, former Highlight members Junhyung, Hyunseung, and BTOB members Eunkwang, and Sungjae, has been rejected, as of April 8.
Back in January of this year, the Ministry of Education officially recognized that the above celebrities received preferential treatment from Dongshin University in earning their degrees. As a result, the ministry declared that these stars' university degrees must be cancelled; approximately a month later Dongshin University submitted a formal appeal in an attempt to protect the students' degrees.
However, even after the cancellation of their degree credits, the Highlight and BTOB members in question may be able to reclaim their degrees if they wished. The ministry relayed on April 10, "Those who are currently serving in the military must retake the cancelled courses and credits after their discharge, then properly graduate." BTOB's Sungjae, who is still enrolled as a student at Dongshin University, will only face a cancellation of most of his credits.
Dongshin University also stepped up to clarify their intentions to submit another appeal to the Ministry of Education, in order to "Prevent our students and graduates from receiving further damage."
I still remember how that scandal over took the headlines for a few weeks but that scandal though big at that time, pales in comparison to these current domino effect scandals.
