(There is lots of BTS in this article, not because I'm an army, but BTS much involved in this. Also please let me know what you think and please share some videos, tweets, and other articles that can be helpful to illustrate this topic.)
Last year K-pop became very big in the U.S. with as a start BTS's performance of Fake Love at Billboard Awards. BTS became really popular under western culture and got invited to many more shows. Also, many other artists as Momoland, NCT, Got7, Monsta X, Blackpink, Red Velvet and EXO made their U.S. debut.
I tend to have the idea that all these U.S. shows where these all these groups where invited did not take the artists serious at all. I could not feel that interviewers were really interested in their stories. There are numerous videos of American artists trying to get selfies with BTS. This is so rude. They know BTS is big, but they don't know anything else and just want a picture with them. American artists really act like they are friends with BTS, but they are not and just want the attention of K-pop fans.
Another thing, Charlie Puth. It's nice to see a collaboration but it's so fake. BTS members speak barely English, except for RM, so they could not really vibe with Charlie Puth to get friends and eventually collab with each other. They just had a collab out of nowhere.
Finally, BTS's collaboration with Nicki Minaj. That collab was fake as hell. The artists definitely had almost no communication with each other concerning IDOL and Nicki just participated to get attention from the K-pop fans and BTS participated because they want to get bigger in the U.S. because they have lots of Western fans. Nicki has seriously never ever said anything about BTS after the release
Also, there are lots of artists that said that they want to work with Blackpink or BTS. I think these comments are really weird, because how do you want to work with a group if you don't know the group, the members and if you don't understand the K-pop industry. Artists can produce good music with other people if they can vibe with those people. I'm sure 80 % of these American artists don't really know the K-pop group and don't know how the industry works.
And you might think that K-pop artists are also involved in this because they want to work with American artists. Not fully true. BTS and Blackpink really get the idea that the U.S. artists really like them for who they are and the members like the attention and recognition. They just feel honored, but don't see that these American artists are using them for also recognition of the K-pop fans.
Music is something has to come from the heart and carries a certain feeling and the U.S. is ruining K-pop artists way of producing music and communication with fans.
What is your opinion? I want to write an article soon about the U.S. and K-pop wave. Please tell me everything you know and think. Just give your opinion!
