Netizens are sobbing after seeing 'Produce X101's latest set of trainee videos, meant to showcase each trainee's hidden charms through fun, unconventional missions.
Ahead of the show's official premiere this May, the trainees of 'Produce X101' recently greeted viewers with their very own, unique introduction videos - all 101 trainees. Now, as the countdown toward the season premiere continues, the trainees have been tasked with a special mission where they must where funny-looking hats with snacks rotating just within reach of their mouths, to try and grab as many snacks as possible. For each snack successfully eaten, the trainee receives 15 seconds of "appeal" time at the end of the video.
However, fans of the 'Produce' series did not find this "special mission" to be in the least bit helpful in bringing out the trainees' charms. Asking, "Who does this benefit at all?", netizens claimed that all that resulted from the snack eating missions were just ugly and awkward screen shots of the boys.
Commented ranged from "This is so not it...", "It's not funny, it's not cool, wtf is this...", "Feels like they used to play this game on 'Infinity Challenge' or 'Running Man' like years ago... why would idols need to play this game", "I turned it off as soon as they started talking with the snacks in their mouths...", "This isn't helping anyone, nobody's entertained by this, not the viewers or the trainees", and more, to others demanding that these videos be taken down.
Many netizens derided the program's PD for the new mission, and others asked for the return of the 'hidden box mission' from previous seasons. Some gave ideas such as, "If they would have just sat down normally for snack mukbang or snack eating ASMR it would have resulted in such cuter videos", "Please please this is not it so please take these down and do a new mission, and please never let them upload this weird video of my pick", "You could have chosen better snacks at least", etc.
Have you watched any of the 'Produce X101' trainees' snack mission videos?
