Ever since ITZY was announced, Chaeryeong has been the target of criticism about her visuals. However, the criticism got so intense that Chaeryeong's own mother spoke up. She wrote, "You're saying things that could be painful to Chaeryeong so easily. She just debuted. She is my child, who is more precious than anything else to me. She's not pretty in your eyes, so you come to every stage video and every comment about Chaeryeong, put her down, ignore her, bully her, and say things that can hurt her. If she did something that deserves criticism, it is clear she should be criticized. But you're judging a 19-year-old girl with just her face. Just as everyone has different charms, everyone also likes different styles. I'm sad and hurt and angry that a kind, precious child is getting criticized so much. Just... do it inside. screw those people who judges not only chaeryoeng but also other idols just based on their face and not their talent -_- i mean, we're already almost entering 4th gen but people still haven't learn to not judge an idol purely based on her/his face
