Dispatch discovered an illegal voting website for Mnet 'Produce 48'.
According to Dispatch, a Chinese website, Taobao, has been selling Gmarket IDs for 10 Yuan ($1.46) each. A user can use the purchased ID to vote for 'Produce 48', as well as shop and collect points. All of these activities are illegal.
As of 5 PM on August 22 KST, a total of 2,254 IDs have been illegally sold through the website. The seller revealed a total of 9,993,496 IDs are still available for purchase. This means personal information of nearly 10 million Koreans has been illegally exposed.
The illegal transactions have been taking place since June. Currently, Taobao has deleted the Gmarket ID sales page. CJ E&M has also blocked votes with a foreign IP address while Gmarket has blocked all votes with a Chinese IP. Meanwhile, viewers are demanding a stricter regulation on the online voting system for fairness.
